Where we are, in one glance

AI Overview · plain answer

Dr. Ishita B. Sen and Dr. Dharmender Malik practise in Nuclear Oncology & Molecular Imaging at Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI), Sector 44, Gurugram, Haryana 122002 — a JCI- and NABH-accredited hospital that already treats patients from more than 100 countries. It is about 16–17 km (25–30 minutes) from Delhi's IGI International Airport, with a metro station roughly 100 m away. To come for treatment you must enter India on a Medical Visa, applied for on the official Government of India portal — we prepare the hospital invitation letter and guide the process.

If this is your first journey to India, Gurugram is one of the easiest places to arrive: modern, cosmopolitan, English-speaking, and built around international hotels and hospitals. This guide walks you through each step — arriving, the visa, staying, getting around, paying for things, staying well, and even a little rest when your treatment allows — so your energy stays where it belongs.

Important

This page is general travel and planning information, not medical advice, and it does not replace guidance from your own doctors or the official travel advisories of your government. Patients in active cancer treatment should always follow their treating oncologist's instructions on fitness to fly, infection precautions and vaccination.

Getting here — the airports

Two airports serve Gurugram. For almost every international patient, Delhi's IGI is the right choice — it is far closer and better connected.

AirportDistance & drive to FMRI
Indira Gandhi International (DEL) — recommended~16–17 km · 25–30 min. Delhi's main international hub, with direct flights from the Gulf, Europe, North America, Africa and Asia.
Noida International (Jewar, DXN) — secondary~110 km · ~2 hours via the Yamuna Expressway. India's newest airport; use only if your routing or fare clearly favours it.

From the airport you can take a prepaid airport taxi, an app cab (Uber, Ola), or a pre-arranged hotel car. The Delhi Metro's Yellow Line also ends at Millennium City Centre, about 100 m from the hospital.

We'll meet you

Send us your flight details and our concierge team can have a driver waiting with your name at arrivals, and coordinate directly with your hotel and the department — so nothing is left to chance on the day you land.

You must enter on a Medical Visa

Treatment in India requires an e-Medical Visa (or a regular Medical Visa) — a tourist visa is not valid for treatment. It is a straightforward, fully online application, and we help you prepare it, including the hospital invitation letter you will need.

What you'll need
  • Apply on the official Government of India portal only — beware of look-alike sites that charge extra.
  • A passport valid 6+ months with two blank pages, a recent photograph, and your medical reports.
  • A hospital invitation letter — we prepare this for you.
  • Up to two Medical Attendant Visas for family accompanying the patient.
  • Apply at least 4 days before travel; decisions typically arrive within about 3 working days.

Depending on the length of your stay, FRRO registration (indianfrro.gov.in) may also apply, and travellers arriving from yellow-fever countries must carry a vaccination certificate. We advise you on all of this.

Medical visa · logistics support

Our team has hands-on expertise with medical visas, invitation letters, attendant visas and travel logistics. Apply on the official portal below, and email us for the invitation letter and any help you need — manav@nuclearmedicinetherapy.in.

A modern city that's easy to love

Just south of Delhi, Gurugram (Gurgaon) is India's gleaming corporate capital — glass towers, tree-lined sectors, and the head offices of the world's biggest companies. Beneath the busy, energetic surface is a city that runs on hospitality: international hotels, world-class malls, cafés and restaurants from every corner of the globe, and people well used to welcoming guests from abroad.

The pace is lively, but you are never far from calm — a quiet hotel lounge, a landscaped golf course, a spa. Hotel districts and dining hubs are well-lit, secure and busy into the evening; English is the working language everywhere; and pharmacies, cafés, ATMs and shops sit within a few minutes of the hospital and every major hotel. It is, quite simply, one of the most comfortable places in India to arrive as a first-time traveller.

Food to look forward to

North Indian cooking is rich, aromatic and deeply comforting — creamy dal makhani, tandoori breads, butter chicken, fragrant biryanis, and endless vegetarian choice, with kitchens well used to plant-based, Jain and halal diets. Ask for mild spice if you prefer. Beyond Indian food, DLF Cyber Hub is the city's dining heart, with Farzi Café, SOCIAL and United Coffee House among dozens of options, alongside Italian, Japanese, Lebanese and more. Hotel restaurants are excellent and reliably hygienic.

Eating well in treatment

Choose freshly cooked, hot meals from your hotel or established restaurants, drink only sealed bottled or filtered water, and tell staff of any dietary or allergy needs. If you are immunocompromised, your oncologist's food-safety advice always comes first.

From global brands to Indian craft

Whether you want familiar labels or a beautiful memento to take home, it is all within a short drive. Ambience Mall is one of India's largest, with international and Indian brands, cinemas and a huge food court about 15 minutes away. DLF Cyber Hub and the nearby Galleria Market cover boutiques, cafés and everyday essentials. For handloom, pashmina, tea, spices and handicrafts, government-run emporia and reputable boutiques offer fixed, fair prices — a lovely way to take India home.

Getting around & paying for things

Getting around. A hotel car or app cab (Uber, Ola) is the most comfortable choice — air-conditioned, metered and door-to-door. The Delhi Metro's Yellow Line ends at Millennium City Centre, about 100 m from FMRI, and is clean, cheap and air-conditioned. Auto-rickshaws are fine for short hops. For patients, we recommend a pre-arranged car.

Money & payments. The currency is the Indian Rupee (₹). Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted at the hospital, hotels and malls; carry some cash for taxis, tips and small shops. Change money only at authorised exchangers, banks or the airport, and use bank ATMs. Tell your bank you are travelling. Amex is less widely accepted, and UPI apps are mainly for local accounts.

Simple precautions, per US & EU guidance

A short, sensible checklist keeps most visitors well — and it matters more if you are in active cancer treatment. In line with US (CDC) and EU/ECDC travel-health advice:

  • Drink only sealed bottled, boiled or filtered water — including for brushing teeth — and avoid loose ice.
  • Avoid raw, unpeeled or street food if you are immunocompromised: boil it, cook it, peel it — or leave it.
  • Avoid unpasteurised dairy and salads or juices from uncertain kitchens.
  • Use mosquito repellent — dengue is seasonal — and consider an N95 mask, as Delhi NCR air quality can dip from late October to January.
  • Speak to your oncologist before you fly for their sign-off and advice on infection precautions and vaccines — some live vaccines are not suitable during treatment.
  • Carry travel and medical insurance that covers your condition, plus your medicines in original packaging with prescriptions.
Important

This is general travel-health information, not medical advice. It does not replace guidance from your own doctors or the official advisories of your government (for example the US CDC or EU/ECDC). Patients in active treatment should always follow their treating oncologist's instructions.

Gentle excursions & holistic wellness

When your schedule and your doctors allow — only with medical clearance, and at an easy pace — a little beauty and rest can be part of healing. The Taj Mahal at Agra is around 3.5–4 hours away by chauffeured car along the Yamuna Expressway; a private, unhurried day with a good guide is the way to see it. Closer to base, Old and New Delhi offer Humayun's Tomb, Qutub Minar, the Lotus Temple and India Gate within an easy morning's drive.

For the finest holistic healing, two internationally renowned retreats lie within reach: Ananda in the Himalayas, India's celebrated destination spa above Rishikesh, with physician-led Ayurveda, yoga and personalised wellness in serene luxury; and Six Senses Vana, Dehradun, an intimate wellness sanctuary blending Ayurveda, Tibetan medicine and modern integrative care. Our concierge team can curate private cars, guides, wellness bookings and timing around your appointments — end to end. Just ask.

Practical essentials

  • Pharmacies: well-stocked pharmacies operate in and around the hospital and every hotel district, many around the clock.
